The Fake Xu Zhao Leak: Unpacking a Prank Skill Sheet for Honkai Star Rail
Half the fun of being a Honkai Star Rail player is watching the leak ecosystem spiral every time a new character silhouette drops. The other half is getting trolled. The "Xu Zhao" skill rundown circulating in this short Chinese clip is a textbook example of the second category — a tightly written, numbered, completely fabricated kit that mimics the format of real beta sheets right up until the creator looks straight at camera and says it's all made up. I want to walk through what the prank claims, why it sounds plausible, and where it falls apart against verified Version 4.0 information about the actual Physical Elation 5★, Yao Guang.
What the prank pretends to leak
The clip opens with a confident "newest scoop" framing and immediately jumps into a basic attack readout. The fake "Xu Zhao" is presented as a Path of Elation unit — same Path that Yao Guang occupies in the genuine 4.0 leaks — leaning on Punchline Points, the Aha interaction, and Elation DMG as its core toolkit. This is what makes the fabrication so sticky: the writer copied real systemic vocabulary that already exists in the verified Yao Guang dossier (Punchline Points, Aha-driven extra turns, "Certified Banger" buff state) and bolted invented multipliers onto them.

The fake basic attack supposedly hits a single target for 100% of ATK as Physical Elation DMG. A second basic attack form grants 5 Punchline Points and hits all enemies for 120% ATK. There is no version of this in the verified Yao Guang dossier — Yao Guang's confirmed basic, "Whistlebolt Sings Joy," does 90% ATK to the main target and 30% ATK to adjacent enemies, plus better Energy recovery. The numbers don't line up, the AoE pattern doesn't line up, and there is no second-form basic attack on the real character. That's already the first red flag for anyone cross-referencing the prank against real beta data.
The reason a viewer might still buy it: Path of Elation really does have a Punchline / Aha resource economy, the Path really does include effects that 20–30% of enemy DEF and increase DMG dealt, and the real Yao Guang really does build her kit around Punchlines feeding into Aha Instants. The prank exploits all of that. It's a forgery that looks like a Yao Guang variant rather than a clearly absurd fanfic, which is why it spreads.
The fabricated Skill and Talent
The prank's "Skill" claim is where the writer puts the most effort. Xu Zhao is said to gain 15 Punchline Points and open a Zone (a barrier) for 3 turns, with the Zone counter ticking down at the start of Xu Zhao's own turn. While the Zone is up, basic attacks supposedly receive an enhanced state but the Skill becomes uncastable. Allies inside the Zone gain a +24% Elation DMG buff.

Compare this to the real Yao Guang Skill, "Decalight Unveils All": that one creates a Zone for 3 turns boosting all allies' Elation by 15% of Yao Guang's Elation, and her Basic ATK or Skill grants 3 Punchline Points. Same shape, totally different numbers, and crucially the real Skill does not lock itself out for the Zone's duration. The 24% figure in the prank is likely a riff on the +18.7% CRIT Rate ascension stat or the genuine "Felicity Ensemble" bonus that adds +1 turn to Certified Banger — but it's not a real value.
The fabricated Talent is the most obviously broken part. It claims Xu Zhao cannot gain Certified Banger via Aha Instants, but while she has Certified Banger active, every instance of Elation DMG dealt by any ally triggers an additional 1% Elation DMG hit on the same target, not counted as an attack, and converts the enhanced basic into Elation DMG of identical multiplier. This piggybacks on the real Yao Guang Talent "Behold Wherever Light Unfolds," which adds a "Great Boon" bonus equal to 24% of Yao Guang's stat to a random target on ally attacks. The prank's 1% number is implausibly small for a primary Talent multiplier, which is one of the cleaner tells that the writer is cosplaying real kit structure without caring whether the math would ever ship.
The fake Elation Skill and Ultimate
Things get noisier with the prank's Elation Skill and Ultimate.

The fabricated Elation Skill says that for every Punchline Point counted, Xu Zhao does two hits of 10% Physical Elation DMG against a random enemy. The real Yao Guang Elation Skill, "Let Thy Fortune Burst in Flames," does something completely different: it applies "Woe's Whisper" so enemies take +10% DMG for 3 turns, deals 80% Physical Elation DMG to all targets, and adds 5 follow-up hits of 20% each to random enemies. The prank trades "Woe's Whisper" plus a fixed five-hit barrage for an unbounded Punchline-driven rolling barrage. That sounds spicier on paper, which is exactly why it was written.
The fake Ultimate claims that Xu Zhao picks an ally, grants 10 Punchline Points, and forces Aha to act immediately. When Aha acts this way, the ally's Elation Skill gets Punchline Points equal to the Aha Instant's Punchline count multiplied by the number of Elation Path allies in the team. The real Yao Guang Ultimate, "Hexagram of Feathered Fortune," instead grants 5 Punchline Points, fires an extra turn for Aha at a fixed 20 Punchline Points (no consumption), and gives the whole team 20% All-Type RES Penetration for 3 turns. Again, prank uses real terminology — Aha extra-turn, Punchline scaling — but inflates the multiplier loop and removes the All-Type RES Penetration component that's the actual standout effect on the real Ultimate.
A useful comparison table:
| Slot | Fake Xu Zhao claim | Verified Yao Guang |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | 100% ATK ST + 120% ATK AoE form | 90% ATK ST + 30% ATK adjacent |
| Skill Zone duration | 3 turns | 3 turns |
| Skill ally buff | +24% Elation DMG | +15% of Yao Guang's Elation |
| Ultimate Aha trigger | Force-cast, Punchlines × Elation allies count | Fixed 20 Punchlines, no consumption |
| Ultimate team buff | None mentioned | 20% All-Type RES Penetration, 3 turns |
The shape mimics. The math doesn't survive a five-minute audit.
Bonus Abilities and speed scaling fiction
The prank's three Bonus Abilities are also crafted to sound plausible. The first claims that for every Elation Path ally in the team, the entire team gains +12% SPD, plus a percentage equal to the number of Elation allies, with Xu Zhao gaining double that bonus. The second claims that whenever any other ally fires their Elation Skill, it counts as a Joint Attack with Xu Zhao, and any Elation DMG dealt during that ally's Elation Skill is calculated using 100% of Xu Zhao's Elation, CRIT Rate, and CRIT DMG. The third is a flat 50% action advance at battle start.

Pull this against Yao Guang's actual Bonus Abilities. "Amaze-In Grace" gives +30% Elation at 120+ SPD, with +1% per excess SPD point capped at 200 over. "Poised and Sated" adds +60% CRIT DMG and lets the Elation Skill recover 1 Skill Point for the team. "Felicity Ensemble" extends Certified Banger duration by +1 turn. None of these involve a Joint Attack mechanic, none of them rely on the count of Elation allies, and the action advance at battle start is not a confirmed Yao Guang trait.
The Joint Attack claim is the most telling fabrication. Joint Attacks are a real Honkai Star Rail mechanic — they appear officially in the Memosprite system, where the memosprite and memomaster perform two separate attacks counted as a single Action. But Joint Attacks have never been wired to a non-Remembrance support trigger, and Yao Guang is on the Path of Elation, not Remembrance. The prank borrows the term to sound technical.
The speed-scaling line — +12% team SPD per Elation ally, doubled for the caster — also evokes real Path-count synergies referenced in the leaked 4.0–4.3 team comp notes (Silver Wolf Lv. 999 + Sparkle + Huohuo + Trailblazer; Evanescia + Yao Guang + Trailblazer + Huohuo). Real synergies exist; the specific multiplier doesn't.
The Eidolon ladder that gives the game away
If the kit is the bait, the Eidolons are where the fabrication gets cartoonish.

Eidolon 1 supposedly makes the team's Elation DMG 20% of enemy DEF while the Skill Zone is up, doubles Punchline gain from the Talent, and floors Certified Banger at 80 stacks if the count is below 80. The 20% DEF- figure does map onto real Path of Remembrance numbers (the Path includes effects that 20–30% of target DEF), but copy-pasting that into an Elation Eidolon is exactly the kind of mix-and-match that flags a fake.
Eidolon 2 supposedly globalizes the Joint Attack stat-borrowing of Bonus Ability 2 and adds +1% to the Talent's bonus DMG multiplier — once again returning to that absurdly small 1% number that no real Eidolon would headline.
Eidolon 4 doubles Punchline gain on the Elation Skill and adds +5% per-hit damage. Eidolon 6 inflates the enhanced basic multiplier by +600%, adds +64% to the Skill Zone's Elation DMG buff, and lets the Zone bypass weakness when reducing enemy Toughness, with the Toughness reduction value equal to 100% of the original. The +600% basic attack number alone should disqualify it for anyone who has ever read a real Eidolon 6 — finishing multipliers that high tend to live on Ultimates, not on enhanced basics, and " weakness when breaking Toughness" is a mechanic from the Version 2.2 multi-layer Toughness rework, not a single-character Eidolon perk.
In short, the Eidolon section is built by yanking real systemic terms — DEF percentage, Toughness reduction equal to original value, Joint Attack — out of unrelated parts of the game and slathering them onto one fictional unit's E1 through E6.
What is actually verified about the next Elation 5★

Strip out the prank and here's what genuinely sits in the leak dossier for the next Elation banner. Yao Guang is a 5★ Physical Elation support, titled "Arbiter-General of Xianzhou Yuque and Seer Strategist," whose voice has previously appeared discussing the God Slayer Protocol with Jing Yuan, Feixiao, and Huaiyan. She is expected to headline Version 4.0 Phase 1, slotting in immediately after 3.8 in mid-February 2026.
Her real kit is built around Punchline Points feeding Aha for extra turns:
- Basic ATK "Whistlebolt Sings Joy": 90% ATK to one target and 30% ATK to adjacent enemies, with improved Energy recovery.
- Skill "Decalight Unveils All": Zone for 3 turns, all allies' Elation +15% of Yao Guang's Elation, Basic or Skill grants 3 Punchline Points.
- Ultimate "Hexagram of Feathered Fortune": +5 Punchline Points, an extra Aha turn at a fixed 20 Punchlines without consuming them, and team-wide +20% All-Type RES Penetration for 3 turns.
- Talent "Behold Wherever Light Unfolds": with Certified Banger active, ally attacks trigger "Great Boon" at 24% of Yao Guang's stat to a random target, with extra hits per Skill Point spent (max 3 per attack), and Yao Guang's Elation overrides the attacker's if higher.
- Technique "Untethered Glimmer Sails Far": auto-Skill at battle start without spending a Skill Point, plus a "Red Envelope" pickup on destroyable objects, capped at 8 per week.
Stat boosts settle at +10% Elation, +9 SPD, +18.7% CRIT Rate. Her signature Light Cone "When She Decided to See" — a 5★ Elation Path Light Cone — lands at Lv80 1058 HP / 529 ATK / 529 DEF, with +18% SPD scaling to +30% at S5, plus a "Great Fortune" three-turn window that hands out CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, ERR, and Energy on wave start.
That's the real article. The Aha Instant integration, the team-wide RES Penetration, and the Light Cone's CRIT distribution are why she's interesting — not a fictional 600% enhanced basic.
Reading leaks without getting played
This particular video lasts under three minutes and tucks the punchline into the final five seconds. That structure is deliberate. By the time the creator says it's all fabricated, the viewer has already been pulled through twenty-plus numbers, a full Eidolon ladder, and three Bonus Abilities — material that gets clipped, screenshotted, and re-uploaded long after the disclaimer is stripped.
A short checklist that would have caught this one:
- Cross-reference every number against an established beta name. The real Yao Guang ascension stats (+10% Elation, +9 SPD, +18.7% CRIT Rate) and named skills ("Whistlebolt Sings Joy," "Decalight Unveils All," "Hexagram of Feathered Fortune") are public. A leak that introduces a different-named Physical Elation 5★ for the same Path slot is a duplicate, not a sibling.
- Watch for mechanic-mixing. The Memosprite Joint Attack is a Path of Remembrance interaction tied to memomaster + memosprite pairs, where memosprites count as separate characters and inherit the memomaster's Combat Type and Path. Borrowing that concept for an Elation support without a memosprite is a tell.
- Check whether the multipliers respect existing scaling. A flat +600% to an enhanced basic in an Eidolon 6 sits well outside how real E6 multipliers are written, even on the loudest Hunt and Erudition DPS designs.
- Be suspicious of " weakness, full Toughness reduction" effects. The real Version 2.2 Toughness rework already added a multi-layer system where breaking the first layer triggers Weakness Break DMG and breaking all layers triggers full Weakness Break, with front-loaded Break DMG benefiting Fire and Physical especially. Effects that bypass weakness entirely on a single character's Eidolon are vanishingly rare.
The prank is a fun watch precisely because it's well-forged. But Yao Guang's actual Version 4.0 Phase 1 kit — Punchlines into Aha, team-wide RES Penetration, and a Skill Point-recovering Elation Skill — is already the most interesting Elation framework on offer for next year, alongside Sparxie in 4.0 Phase 2, Boothill's 4.1 second-half rerun window, and the rumored 4.2 Silver Wolf Lv. 999, Evanescia, Indelible Coterie, and Mortenax Blade banners. The real roadmap doesn't need fabricated 600% multipliers to be exciting.
