Evanescia F2P Main DPS Guide: Why Her E1 Is the Pull I Almost Never Recommend
Anniversary patch and HoYoverse drops two five-stars on the same banner cycle. Most write-ups have been chasing Silver Wolf SP, but the quieter pick — Evanescia, the new Physical Elation main DPS landing in Phase 2 of Version 4.2 — is the one that actually reshapes what a budget account can field. She is a dedicated DPS slot that Elation has been missing, and her resource design is the first time Honkai Star Rail has bolted "normal" energy regeneration onto an Elation carry.
The reason this matters is simple: every previous Elation hypercarry was either chained to a special charging system or locked out of energy regen rate entirely. Evanescia takes both. That single design decision means an account that already invested in old supports does not have to scrap the bench to use her, and any new Elation enabler still slots in cleanly on top.
What Makes Evanescia Different From Every Other Elation Carry
Her path is Elation, her element is Physical, her role is main DPS, and her base kit numbers are stat-light on paper (104 SPD, 100 Taunt, 240 Energy cost) but the engine underneath is doing all the work. The character is built around a stat called Certified Banger that converts 1:1 with Energy, with a single-instance cap of 100 points either direction.

Two extra clauses are what break the kit open:
- When a teammate whose Elation Skill Participant ID is lower than Evanescia's gains Certified Banger, she siphons 50% of it for herself.
- When a teammate's Certified Banger ends, she converts another 50% of it into her own.
In plain terms: the Banger your support hands themselves is partly hers, and the Banger that expires on your support also feeds her. It is a one-way drain in her favour. Combined with the bidirectional Energy ↔ Banger conversion, every action a properly assembled Elation team takes is funneling fuel into her tank. The only governors are the 100-point single-instance cap, the staggered "front half / back half" delivery, and the Participant ID requirement.
If those three brakes were not in the kit, this character would be openly broken. As built, she lands at "exceptional" rather than "patch-defining unfair" — and that is still enough to make her the strongest F2P main DPS option since Yao Guang.

The Certified Banger Engine, Step By Step
Once Evanescia accumulates 240 stored Energy, the counter is consumed and Master Fox launches an AoE Follow-Up Attack against every enemy on the field, dealing Physical Elation DMG and refunding 10 Energy back to her. The single-instance cap of 240 accumulated points means the engine does not balloon out of control, but the refund keeps the next loop only 230 points away rather than a full 240.
In practice you watch the percentage indicator on her portrait and time skill presses around it. Skill point management matters because her Skill is what generates Punchline points — 10 per cast — and Punchline is what feeds the Aha Instant payoff that other Elation supports key off.
Her Talent ties everything together with a single line: Evanescia gains Elation equal to 25% of her CRIT DMG. CRIT DMG therefore does double duty, scaling crit damage and the Elation stat at the same time. Stack CRIT DMG and you are also stacking the trigger for Punklorde Stage Zero's two damage thresholds.
Damage output for her is genuinely four-pronged:
- Skill (Blast Physical, gains Punchline)
- Ultimate (AoE + 5 random bounces)
- Master Fox Follow-Up (240-Energy threshold)
- Elation Skill (extra AoE Physical Elation hit)

Whenever Certified Banger is active, all four output channels gain bonus Physical Elation DMG layered on top of the base hit. The kit is designed so that "having Banger up" is a near-permanent state rather than a buff window — and that is the assumption every team-building decision below is built on.
Skill-By-Skill Breakdown And Multipliers
Skill (Discipline: Final Verdict) is a Blast hit on the primary target with adjacent splash, and the cast adds 10 Punchline points to the team pool. This is the cast you spam against elite waves to keep Aha Instants firing for your supports.
Ultimate (Swordsong: Absolution Denied) is the centerpiece. It opens with a flat AoE blast against every enemy, then sends out 5 separate bounces, each picking a random enemy on the board. The bounce count is not fixed — her A2 trace, Watch All Revels, scales it based on how many enemies remain: +1 bounce against 3 or more enemies, +2 against 2, and +4 against a single target. That last clause is what stops her from feeling like a pure AoE specialist; against a solo boss the Ultimate converts into a 9-hit nuke that has more in common with an execution than a sweep.
Master Fox's Follow-Up adds a Vulnerability debuff via Fulfilled Adjudication: every time it lands, the target takes 12% increased damage for 3 turns. That is a personal, repeatable debuff that does not occupy a teammate slot.

Trace passives stack quietly:
- Watch All Revels: +30% CRIT Rate, plus the bounce scaling, plus 50% Banger conversion from lower-ID Elation teammates.
- Fulfilled Adjudication: 12% Vulnerability for 3 turns from Master Fox.
- Weltering Determination: another 50% Banger pull from teammates whose Banger expires.

The 30% CRIT Rate on a major trace is significant for relic planning — it lets you skip a CRIT Rate body in many builds without overshooting the 1:2 ratio.
Technique (Petalfall: Floral Reminiscence) is a pre-combat AoE that deals 100% ATK Physical damage to every enemy and pre-loads 20 points of Certified Banger before the first turn. In Memory of Chaos and Pure Fiction, where ramp time is brutally punished, that 20-point head start is the difference between opening with a normal turn and opening with an Ultimate already armed.
Light Cone Priorities
Her signature, Encounter at Flowering's Coming, is the cleanest fit by a wide margin: +60% CRIT DMG, +10% Energy Regen Rate, plus a clause that gives +0.3% ERR for every 10 points of Max Energy above 120, capped at 360 excess points. With her 240 Energy cost and the engine's bidirectional conversion, that scaling clause maxes out and stacks on her Ultimate. The cone also tags enemies with +15% damage taken for 2 turns when she uses an Elation Skill — fairly universal, but the debuff cannot stack with itself, so do not yank two copies thinking you can double-dip across two Elation carries.
Below her signature, the alternatives in rough order:
- A wolf-themed five-star Elation cone catches most of her CRIT and damage clauses but loses the Energy Regen scaling, since her overage above 120 Max Energy has nowhere to land.
- Sparkle's signature gives the CRIT DMG, the stacking 5% DEF (up to 4 layers), and the bonus skill point cap. It loses the team-wide Elation% buff line, which is precisely the line that pairs best with Punklorde Stage Zero. Solid downgrade pick.
- The current monthly pass Elation cone — straightforward stat stick with no surprises.
- A four-star Elation option referenced in some leak tables grants +12% CRIT Rate and a small Elation% bump on Elation Skill cast, stacking up to 2.
- The new free Elation cone available through Version 4.2 events is the floor-tier F2P option.

If you only care about one number: signature gives +60% CRIT DMG and roughly +20.8% Energy Regen Rate once the bonus scaling is fully active.
Relics, Ornaments And Stat Targets
Outer set is 4-piece Ever-Glorious Magical Girl. The 2-piece grants +16% CRIT DMG. The 4-piece is what makes the set feel custom-built: damage from the wearer and their memosprites (read: Master Fox) 10% of enemy DEF as Elation damage, then adds another 1% DEF for every 5 Punchline points the team accumulates, stacking up to 10 layers. Pair her with a Punchline generator like Yao Guang and you sit at the 20% DEF shred ceiling for most of the fight.
Inner set is 2-piece Punklorde Stage Zero. It gives +8% Elation, then +20% CRIT DMG when in-combat Elation hits 40% for the first time, and another +32% CRIT DMG at 80% — 52% total. Because her Talent converts 25% of CRIT DMG into Elation, the loop feeds itself: more CRIT DMG turns into more Elation, which trips the Punklorde thresholds, which gives even more CRIT DMG.
Main stat targets:
| Slot | Primary | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Body | CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG | Either is fine; her major trace covers 30% CRIT Rate already |
| Feet | ATK% or SPD | SPD if you can hit the 134 breakpoint for 2 actions in cycle 1 |
| Orb | Physical DMG% or ATK% | ATK% if you trust your supports' damage buffs |
| Rope | Energy Regen | Strongly preferred unless you have heavy battery support |
Sub-stat priority: CRIT Rate > CRIT DMG > SPD > ATK%, aiming for a roughly 1:2 CRIT ratio. Energy Regen Rope is the standard call. With Energy Regen Rope plus her signature, a single Skill cast nets about 42 Energy on her own bar, and the 10 Punchline she generates routes through Aha Instants into more team Banger — which routes back to her as more Energy. Realistically a Skill cast is worth 52+ Energy when the team is built correctly.

The argument for SPD boots is that she takes a lot of off-turn actions, which can chew through her Banger duration faster, but hitting 134 SPD to double-act in cycle 1 also prevents the worst-case opening where she sits at 230 Energy and cannot pop her first Ultimate. If your supports already buff her speed, drop the SPD boots and chase HP/DEF survivability rolls instead.
Team Compositions Without Burning Your Account
The default 3-to-4 jade build is Evanescia + Yao Guang + Elation Trailblazer + Huohuo. Yao Guang brings team Elation%, additional damage, a Vulnerability debuff, and a 20-Punchline Aha Instant that delivers at minimum 60 Energy worth of fuel and Banger layers back into the engine. The Elation Trailblazer is the new free Path support and feeds Evanescia raw Banger plus CRIT DMG buffs and Elation%/Vulnerability layers. Huohuo, after her recent buff and the free memosprite the game now hands out, gives the team 20% energy refund and ATK% on her Ultimate — which is what actually keeps the other two Elation supports cycling their own Ultimates fast enough to keep feeding Evanescia.
If Yao Guang slipped past you on her banner, the substitutes are veteran Harmony picks. Sparkle brings high CRIT DMG via Skill, 10% RES PEN, 30% Vulnerability, and the extra skill point cap so other teammates can spam more skills. The downsides are that her CRIT DMG buff does not double-convert into Elation through Evanescia's Talent, and her advance-forward shifts the turn order in ways that can clip Banger duration before Evanescia gets to use it. Tribbie is the cleaner alternative — 24% RES PEN on Skill and 30% Vulnerability on Ultimate are rare multipliers that carry just as well into the new Elation path. Her E1 24% true damage is a noticeable lift if you have it.
This is genuinely a low-cost roster. Three or four five-stars total, with two of those (Elation Trailblazer, Huohuo) effectively free.
Eidolons: Why E1 Breaks My Own Rule

I do not normally tell free-to-play players to chase Eidolons. The standard advice has always been: if you have spare resources and the kit interests you, evaluate E1 and E2 yourself. With Evanescia I am breaking that rule.
E1 (Homeland, Dance in Prayer) gives +20% All-Type RES PEN — a multiplier that on most other carries is locked behind E6 — and after Master Fox attacks, triggers an additional Elation Skill which itself grants +10 extra Banger. Other Elation carries need either an Aha Instant or a Yao Guang / Elation Trailblazer Ultimate to fire off their Elation Skill. This Eidolon lets Evanescia trigger one off her own follow-up loop with no external setup. Combined with the RES PEN line and the extra Banger, it is the single biggest E1 power spike on any current main DPS in the game.
E2 (Long May the Road Be) raises CRIT DMG by 36 points and supercharges the two teammate-Banger conversion clauses: instead of pulling 50% of the front-half plus 50% of the back-half, she now effectively grabs 75% on teammate Banger gain and 100% on teammate Banger expiration. The math collapses into "your supports' Banger is mostly her Banger." Stacked on top of the E1 extra Elation Skill, the engine ends up running on its own momentum.
E4 adds a flat 15% DEF E6 stretches Banger duration by one turn, scales Elation damage with stored Banger (up to 1000 points counted), and refunds 120 Energy on the first Ultimate after entering combat — repeatable once every 4 Ultimates.
Pull Plan And Jade Allocation
For a budget account, the call is unusually clean:

- Two five-stars worth of jades: E1 + S0. Skip the signature this time and bank the second copy on Eidolon 1. The signature is a numerical upgrade; E1 is a mechanical upgrade — RES PEN, free Elation Skill triggers, more Banger. Mechanics beat raw stats here.
- Three five-stars worth: E1 + S1. Now the signature comes in. Elation light cones beyond hers are still thin on the ground, so her signature stays useful for any future Elation carry you might pull, with the caveat that you only get full ERR scaling on Evanescia herself.
- Four five-stars worth: E2 + S1. E2 is the second mechanical spike, not a stat patch.
The headline F2P shell — Evanescia at E1 + Yao Guang + Elation Trailblazer + Huohuo — is roughly three-to-four limited five-stars in total cost depending on whether you got Yao Guang or substitute her with Sparkle / Tribbie. For a Memory of Chaos clear team built on a budget, that is excellent value, and it is the reason she earns the "new F2P war god" tag rather than just "another strong DPS." If you missed Yao Guang and want to wait on a rerun, an Evanescia + Sparkle or Evanescia + Tribbie shell still clears, just with the rough edges noted above.
The one thing not to do: pull two copies of her signature thinking you can run the +15% Vulnerability across two Elation carries. The clause is non-stacking. One signature, then Eidolons.
