Genshin Impact 6.6 Luna VII Preview: Nicole, Lohen, Snezhnaya Reactions and the Banner I'm Actually Saving For

The 6.6 livestream dropped a lot more than just two new banner characters. We got the first proper look at a new Cryo-element reaction tied to Snezhnaya, the Statue of The Seven for the Cryo Archon got its model debut, the realm-building tool quietly turned into something dangerous, and the Archon Quest is finally setting the World Tree on fire. May 20, 2026 is the projected launch — pull schedule, kits, artifacts, and event loot are all stacked into a single patch, so I'm splitting this preview the way I'd actually plan around it.

Banner Lineup and What I'm Personally Saving For

Two phases, two new 5-stars, two reruns, and a new 4-star folded into the mix. The lineup looks like this:

Phase Featured 5-Star (New) Rerun 5-Star Featured Weapon
6.6 Phase 1 Nicole (Pyro Catalyst) Durin (Pyro) Seven Edicts of Dust and Light
6.6 Phase 2 Lohen (Cryo Polearm) Mavuika (Pyro) Disaster and Remorse

and line up on the same pairings, which is roughly as much certainty as you ever get pre-patch. The 4-star slots haven't fully leaked yet, but Prune — a new 4-star Anemo Catalyst — is part of the patch and is heavily implied to ride along on one of the banners.

The thing worth flagging loudly: Lohen is widely tipped to be the next Standard Banner addition once 6.6 ends. If you want him without dealing with the permanent 50/50 forever, his limited window in Phase 2 is the only clean path. Mavuika sharing that phase makes Phase 2 the spicier weapon banner too, since Disaster and Remorse is the kind of weapon you don't want to stumble into while trying to pull A Thousand Blazing Suns.

6.6 banner lineup overview

My personal priority is Nicole first, watch the beta for any kit shifts, then commit hard on Phase 2 for Lohen since the post-patch standard pool migration changes the math. If you skipped Mavuika the first two times, this is genuinely the cleanest opportunity to pair her with a fresh Pyro support that wasn't built around Bennett.

Nicole: A Pyro Support That Doesn't Wreck Melt

Nicole is a 5-star Pyro Catalyst, and she's basically engineered to fix the three things people hate about Bennett — short uptime, the "circle of imprisonment" zone, and the forced Pyro application that nukes Freeze and Melt comps.

Her Elemental Skill, Revelation Edict: Unmanifest Light, deals AoE Pyro DMG, drops the Selfless Boon ATK buff on nearby allies, and creates a Blazing Radiance Shield that scales off her ATK with a 250% Pyro DMG Absorption multiplier. Selfless Boon can upgrade to Sacred Benediction for stronger ATK and additional buffs. The shield is the real selling point versus Zhongli for any team where you don't want a constant Geo presence — it's elementally neutral except when you actually want Pyro coverage.

Nicole skill mechanics breakdown

The Burst is where she gets weird in a good way. It triggers recurring coordinated attacks that match the active character's element rather than forcing Pyro on every tick. That's the line that matters: Nicole's coordinated hits will not overwrite a Cryo aura on the enemy and ruin Melt. She slots into a Mavuika Melt setup, an Arlecchino-fronted comp, or any Pyro carry that wanted Bennett's ATK buff but hated the Pyro application baggage.

There's also a quality-of-life passive worth noting — once you've unlocked the regional compass for the area, her Charged Attack summons a Seelie that points you toward the nearest chest. That's a permanent overworld utility upgrade you carry with the account, not just a combat trick.

Her signature, Seven Edicts of Dust and Light, is built around shield generation. Generating a shield grants Pathfinder's Light for 20 seconds: every 1,000 ATK on the wielder boosts the active party member's DMG by 10%, capped at 26%, with a 14-Energy refund triggered when the active member hits an enemy or opens a chest off-field (16-second cooldown). With the Hexerei: Secret Rite condition active, off-field Hexerei teammates inherit 50% of that DMG bonus.

Lohen: Joy, Triumph, and Why He Wants Durin Beside Him

Lohen is a 5-star Cryo Polearm on-field DPS, and his kit is one of the more unusual carry designs released. His Elemental Skill puts him into a special Stratagem state with Cryo infusion, where Normal and Charged Attacks accumulate Joy stacks. The twist: while he's in that state, teammates' off-field damage generates Triumph for him separately. Once Joy hits the threshold, his Skill transforms into a special Cryo strike — Piercing Frost — whose damage scales directly with how much Triumph the team fed him.

Lohen skill mechanics with Joy and Triumph

Practically, this means Lohen does not want a rotation-style speed-swap quickswap team. He wants to stand on field, swing, and have a heavy-hitting off-field sub-DPS pumping damage behind him. Durin's black dragon form is exactly that partner — you can already see why HoYoverse is reruning Durin in the same patch Lohen debuts. It's a front-line/back-line dual carry structure, where Lohen handles consistent Cryo application plus Polearm Physical pressure on Normal/Charged hits, and the off-field source loads up his Triumph meter for amplified Skill and Burst payouts. Pyro off-field carries also work because of the Melt potential off his frequent Cryo application.

Disaster and Remorse, his signature 5-star Polearm, has a 22.1% CRIT Rate sub-stat and a passive that's brutal for an on-field carry:

Effect Trigger Duration Bonus
Path of Conflict After Elemental Skill 17s Enables the two sub-buffs below
Unforgivable While Path of Conflict active 3s base +40% Normal/Charged Attack DMG
Irreparable While Path of Conflict active 3s base +40% Skill/Burst DMG
Hexerei: Secret Rite Hexerei team condition All above DMG bonuses +75%

Normal/Charged hits extend Irreparable, Skill/Burst hits extend Unforgivable, so the kit basically forces you to alternate between attack types to keep both buffs ticking. With the Hexerei condition met, you're looking at a multiplicatively scaled version of those bonuses. The 18-second cooldown on the trigger lines up roughly with one rotation cycle.

Two more things worth flagging: Lohen's Stratagem-state Cryo infusion can't be overridden, so Bennett's Pyro infusion won't break it (though you generally don't want Bennett near him for Melt reasons anyway), and his on-field flow is framed as a hybrid Physical/Cryo damage split rather than a pure elemental carry.

Prune: A 4-Star Anemo Catalyst That Brings a Hammer

Prune is the 4-star addition for the patch — Anemo Catalyst, with a kit that visually leans on a bell and a giant hammer rather than a typical caster animation. She's a Swirl-focused sub-DPS / buffer.

Her Elemental Skill swings the hammer for Anemo DMG. If that hit triggers a Swirl, she gets an extra Swirl-element-infused hammer hit on top, which is the main damage cycle. Her Burst summons a bell that follows the active character around and pings enemies for off-field AoE Anemo. The team buff layer comes from both the bonus elemental hammer hits and Burst-triggered Swirls — both routes feed an ATK-scaling DMG bonus to teammates.

Prune is also being featured prominently in Klee's Little Hexenzirkel, a limited-time event in 6.6 that includes Klee, Qiqi, Sayu, Yaoyao, and Prune. That's the closest you'll get to a free preview of how she plays before deciding whether to spark her constellations on the banner.

Snezhnaya First Look: The New Cryo Reaction and the Statue Reveal

This was easily the biggest non-banner reveal. The trailer showed an Electro Polearm character applying Electro to an enemy first, then the Cryo Traveler throwing an ice cone — the result wasn't Superconduct. The two elements produced an entirely new reaction VFX, leaving behind a four-pointed Cryo star on the target. That's a brand-new reaction tied to Snezhnaya's elemental system, not a refresh of an existing one.

New Snezhnaya reaction VFX and Cryo Statue of The Seven

The Cryo Statue of The Seven also got its first model showing. The frame sits between adult-female and teen-female model proportions, and she's holding a scepter-style catalyst. The same trailer slipped in some big overworld interactions: terrain alteration, transforming into a snowball for traversal, and a direct scene-switching mechanic. The closing shot has the Traveler in a new outfit using firearms — yes, actual ranged firearms in the cutscene. None of this is in 6.6 itself; this is the seed footage for the Snezhnaya region that follows Nod-Krai's wrap-up.

The "Shattered Illusion in the Shadows" artifact set leaking in 6.6 fits this puzzle. Its 4-piece bumps Superconduct DMG by 40% and adds 16% CRIT Rate when the wearer hits a Superconduct-affected enemy. That's an explicit signal that Cryo + Electro is getting attention as a damage archetype again, even before the new reaction itself goes live. The flavor text mentioning blessings received "on the road to Snezhnaya" basically confirms the artifact is the appetizer.

Two New Artifact Sets Worth Pre-Farming

Set 2-Piece 4-Piece
Celestial Gift Energy Recharge +20% After using Elemental Skill (requires "Witch's Homework" completed), grants Light's Guidance for 20s — nearby allies get 20% Elemental DMG Bonus matching the wearer's element, works off-field, doesn't stack with same-name set. With Hexerei: Secret Rite active, upgrades to Mortal Hymn: 40% Elemental DMG Bonus matching both the wearer's element AND the on-field character's element (no stacking if elements match).
Shattered Illusion in the Shadows ATK +18% Superconduct reaction DMG +40%; when attacking a Superconduct-affected enemy, that hit's CRIT Rate +16%.

Celestial Gift artifact set effect

Celestial Gift is the obvious Nicole set — the Energy Recharge piece patches her Burst-cycle problem, and the upgraded Mortal Hymn condition rewards exactly the dual-Hexerei team structure she's slotted into. The off-field trigger requirement is huge here; she doesn't need to be on field to keep that team-wide elemental damage buff alive. It's also generally usable for any future support that wants conditional team-wide elemental DMG, but Nicole is the cleanest first-week target.

Snezhnaya Superconduct artifact set effect

Shattered Illusion in the Shadows is more interesting strategically. None of the 6.6 release characters scream "Superconduct DPS" — Lohen is doing his own dual-resource thing — so the set is clearly groundwork for a future kit. Eula mains have been waiting years for something like this, and there's strong community read that an upcoming Superconduct-focused unit is the actual intended user. If you have a Cryo Claymore main DPS gathering dust, this is the resin investment with the longest tail. Note the leaked numbers are still beta-stage.

Klee's Little Hexenzirkel and the Free Loot Pile

The big multi-mode event is Phantasmal Pals, with four themed mini-games:

  • Fantasy Realm Performance — Combat-style stage; complete training objectives to build Witchhunter Momentum and clear out enemies during a Witchhunter Performance phase for points.
  • Gena's Great Escape — Endless-runner-style. Guide Gena to switch lanes or jump to dodge obstacles while collecting onigiri. The final challenge has no end point — Gena keeps accelerating until you cap out, and you finalize your score whenever you want. Avoiding obstacles for a stretch ramps her speed automatically.
  • Dodoco Bomb-Rally Ruckus — Help Klee pass Jumpy Dumpty bombs around to all the Dodoco partners via passing. Each new pass starts from where the bomb currently sits.
  • Kaleidoscopic Color Chase — Co-op chase mode. Color Balls actively flee from you; you have to herd them into Color Collection Zones for points.

The carrot here is a free 4-star Claymore skin: "Super-Awesome Magic Key," awarded as a quest reward for completing event objectives. There's also a separate event task chain ("Splendid Garments / Stargazing") that pays out 270 Primogems plus a free outfit set across its tasks.

Free 4-star Claymore skin reward

Other patch additions worth knowing about: a Trials of the Brave Warrior combat event where Elemental Skills and Bursts are disabled in favor of a new Parry mechanic — hold to raise your weapon defensively, which heavily reduces incoming DMG and reduces opponent Toughness on a successful read. The Realm of Tempered Valor passive Primogem track gets weekly rewards added, the in-game music album collection adds a new "Hexerei" themed album, and the photo-mode trail effects add new entries for Wanderer and Navia.

Story, Boss, and Quality-of-Life Changes

The Archon Quest is two acts, framed around the Teyvat-wide crisis and the World Tree finally There's a weekly story segment too — clearing the time-limited first act of the Cunning Hare Chapter unlocks Lohen's Story Quest as an extra reward, so don't sleep on the deadline. Archon Quests are also getting a new save-point system: when the save icon appears in your quest tracker, exiting the cinematic mode no longer wipes your progress.

The new weekly boss is the Doctor's "new form," referred to as the Sublime One of the Left-Hand Path. It's a Fatui Harbinger weekly fight with a different moveset from his previous appearance.

The realm-builder system also gets a heavy update this patch:

  • Emote actions can now be performed in the open world, not just inside builder lobbies.
  • Outfit loadouts gain a "random display" toggle — entering a stage rolls a random fit from your saved sets.
  • A new royal-garden-style lobby skin drops, plus a 5-star purple butterfly-themed gown with an ambient butterfly VFX aura.
  • Outfit set additions include a pink gradient sundress with a small cape, a casual cat-themed loungewear set, and a soccer kit (timed for the World Cup window).
  • The realm editor gets a mini-map function — meaning escape-room maps, social-deduction stages, and MOBA-style layouts get a real UI to work with. New UI space and water-related assets/objects are added too, which strongly hints at upcoming underwater realm modes.

This is the kind of patch where the headline is the banner, but the iceberg under it — the new reaction, the Snezhnaya prep set, the realm-builder mini-map, the Lohen-as-future-standard situation — is what actually moves the meta long-term. If you're stretched on Primogems, prioritize Nicole for clean Pyro support utility, then go heavy on Phase 2 for the Lohen window before he migrates to standard. Mavuika sharing his banner is a bonus, not a tax.
